Hello friends,

As I’m working on mixing and mastering the celebratory first drone track for the ceremonious opening of this great label Award Winning Records, I find myself in somewhat of a melancholic mood.

The hypnotic screeching of party horns is filling my headphones, as I open up this session for a last time to dot some i’s, and cross some t’s. With this track, I have tried to really squeeze every last bit of threatening looming doom out of a sound usually associated with parties and kids running around.

The intrinsic creepiness of these sounds often goes unheard. Often because the surrounding inputs are projecting a different message. But as someone who’s been making ambient music for the past two decades now, I can tell you that it’s all about context. Everything can be ambient, if you’re brave enough.

So, to swap out the party context, in this case think of vultures circling the emaciated self, stumbling through a dusty desert in search of sustenance — And when you say ‘sustenance’ but mean drone; I’ve got you covered!

The next smash hit record by the amazing Award Winning Records titled “Toeters, een akoestisch drieluik” is almost out.
